Compsoc maintains 7 servers, all located in our server room in the Hub, Arás Na MacLeinn. Each of our servers is named after a slightly obscure Simpsons character.

Riviera

Riviera is Compsoc's main server, and hosts all user accounts, email addresses and the website you are reading right now! Riviera contains

  Dual Core AMD Opteron 250 Processor
  6GB RAM
  400GB Main Hard Drive
  Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS Server Edition

Scorpio

Scorpio is our backup server, every night while you sleep, Scorpio toils away backing up all your precious data onto its RAID array, ensuring that even if Riviera blows up, all your lolcat pictures will be ok!

  1GB RAM
  6 x 1TB Hard Disks in RAID 1 and RAID 5
  Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS Server Edition

4 IBM eServers

The latest addition to the Compsoc fleet are 4 IBM eServers, which are currently contributing to the World Community Grid under the username NUIGCompsoc.

If you are interested in contributing your unused computer time to a host of worthy causes, please join the NUIGCompsocTeam.

The servers (named Otto, Grimey, Moleman and Uter) contain:

Canyonero

Last but not least is Canyonero, a Sun SPARC server which serves as our Admin training box, where rookie admins can cut their teeth on server administration, and make mistakes without messing up peoples accounts. If you are interested in getting involved with the Admin team, we are always looking for new volunteers, its a great way to get server experience that you may not get elsewhere.
